ALICE'S OPENS AT THE MENTONE SPRINGS HOTEL

New restaurant kicks off the season with Mother's Day Brunch

May 10, 2012---Mentone, Alabama---Owners of the Mentone Springs Hotel today announced that its restaurant, Alice's, has opened in preparation for the seasonal influx of tourist and visitors. It will be open for dinner on Friday and Saturday night, lunch Saturday and will begin serving brunch from 10 am – 2 pm on Sunday's beginning Mother's Day, May 13.

"We're excited about re-opening the restaurant and what that means to our guests and the community," said Mentone Springs Hotel General Manger, Bill Thomas. "Alice's will provide jobs and an opportunity for the Hotel to buy local vegetables, breads, meats, flowers and other fare from farmers in our area. Our main dining rooms have been refreshed to reflect the casual elegance of mountain living Mentone is known for. Everyone loves the Hotel's wrap around porches as they are the perfect place to enjoy sunsets, cool breezes and a lovely meal."

Alice's was named in honor of one of the owners' grandmothers, and as an acknowledgement to Alice Mason, who as legend has it, named the town of Mentone. As the daughter of one of the original town founders, Miss Mason named the city Mentone after the French city of Menton, meaning "Musical Mountain Spring." As indicated by the name, Mentone is blessed with mineral springs that were believed to have healing powers. That tradition continues today as people come to Mentone to refresh, renew and restore mind, body and spirit.

Local musicians have been tapped to entertain at Alice's during dinner, adding to what the owners hope will be a way to support talented members of the Mentone music community and expose guests to another facet that makes the town special.

The lunch menu includes signature quiche, homemade soups and salads. In addition to seasonal specials, The Springs Burger, Christian's Ruben, Roast Beef au jus and Lisa's Chicken Salad sandwich will be lunch and brunch menu staples. All salad dressings are homemade and desserts are made from scratch. Lunch and brunch specials range in price from $3.50 for a cup of soup to $8-$10 for salads and sandwiches. Dinner entrees will feature a fresh fish or poultry special like a Coq Au Vin, mashed potatoes with rosemary butter and creamed spinach. Dinner entree prices are in the $13 to $28 price range. All salad dressings are homemade and deserts are made from scratch. The menu changes weekly and can be found at www.mentonesprings.com or on Facebook/Mentone Springs Hotel.

Alice's will also cater lunch events during the week, weddings, corporate retreats and family reunions.
